The Sunday Times university survival guide says on page 14 says that archaeology (research professionals) earn UKP 14973 as a starting salary more than fine art or ophthalmics.
Where did they get there infomation.

Maybe 14973 after two or three years might be more like it. Incidentally, still not enough to trigger student loan repayments. Bit surprised about the opthalamologists though...

I have jsut come off the phone from Higher Education Statistics Agency (where the stats came from) they are emailing me the results.... which is nice. It seems they base the figures on people who are in full time employment who return information on pay - so a limimited or 'restricted' sample. It seems that a digger does not fit in there... so will be missed out.

Perhaps this is a reflection of Sunday Times readers who are archaeologists.
