A separate page for Euro jobs? |

I apologise for the delay in getting around to this matter, but my access to the internet is severely comprised at present due to my rural (but idllyic!!) Scandinavian surroundings...
I note that a BAJR job ad for the EcoMuseum at Cap Cavalleria is offering a salary of â¬325 for a 40 hour working week. My calculation (aided by the Expedia currency converter) is that this works out at roughly £220 for a 40hr week and only about £200 for a 37 hour week. Further the responsibilities associated with the post (particularly the post-ex work) suggest the grading of the job is at least BAJR4/5.
However, I think that BAJR should run this ad (and other ads like it) where the terms and conditions are clearly laid out, the offer of free food and accomodation is part of the package (Spanish hospitality and all that..) and the project is cleary a great opportunity for the right person. But anticipating that such adverts are more and more likely to appear (especially when Euro-BAJR is up and running) should they not be housed on a separate page to jobs where the normal BAJR terms and conditions would apply? Does BAJR also need a set of criteria to determine whether such ads meet a minimum standard?
Although this particular ad doesn't mention any work permit requirements, I also wondered whether BAJR should verify who might be entitled to apply for employment in countries such as Spain and Ireland at the moment, as I know that the UK job market is open to a much wider group of Euro-nationals than other EU nations. Maybe a BAJR 'Euro Digger' guide is needed. Or did our Host suggest that some time back...
Oh well, back to watching the mist descend somewhere on the Swedish border....Bright sunshine, but minus 2 degrees in Narvik yesterday.

My contract finished yesterday. It had lasted for three days. Can anyone beat that? Archaeology is such a joke sometimes.

Now don`t get me wrong-I don`t usually read newspapers but t`other day, I picked one up and read about the Sir Richard general type-blokey. A journalist by the name of Max Hastings said this.....
"It has been a fundamental doctrine of the Blair government since 1997 that it does not matter how things really are, as long as they can be made to look right." Hastings goes on to describe this as a fantasy notion of government and a "lets pretend" school of strategy. Daily Mail, pp 12-13 sat Oct 14.
Rang a few bells with me....what say you?

Just a quick note that the project officer job advertised by headland on the employment section has a starting wage at supervisor grade not po grade
If they are looking for a PO then should start at £18500 or there about.

This is a bit of a stab in the dark. Heard a rumour that, in France?, there actually is a Gizmo for stamping site codes and context numbers on finds (instead of writing on a couple of tons of roof tile). Has anyone heard of said Gizmo???
