Heres fun folks I note that OAU are advertising for a:
Driver/warehouse assistant,(assitant not manager), salary ?14,046 - ?15,182 pa.
Below that job OAU is advertising for achaeologists:
Salary ?14,046 (including generous holiday and sick leave pay).
So go to university study hard for a degree get an MA have huge debts come out and get a job as an archaeologist on a wage with less pay structure than a driver/warehouse assitant.
Or perhaps these days you have to have all those qualifications to be a driver, I dunno.
At least he or she keeps warm and dry and goes home every evening.
Tempted!!

The conference was great and the 80 shillings was a highlight as was the diggers forum, top notch. However, the dinner was the most horrible menu ever produced by man or woman. Beef stroganoff my Arse! Was it cat or was it dog. The rice looked like it had hung around since the last IFA conference. Perhaps as we archaeologist are underpaid they thought that it would seem amazing. As for the vegetarian option well cow and pat come to mind but then I believe thats what you veggies eat anyhow. Also the nibbles at the wine reception seemed to get scoffed by the academic greedy types.
Pay and conditions! Pay and conditions get yer food sorted first IFA.

IFA RAO enquiry |

There is some confusion as to whether a certain unit is, or is not an IFA RAO.I have just attempted to clarify this point by searching the RAO bit on the IFA website with negative results. This particular unit seems to be using the IFA RAO kitemark on their stationary and Mr Hosty believes that they are in fact not an RAO at all.....Mr Hosty??? Performance Related Bonuses |

What the collective BAJR view about the payment of performance bonuses. A good idea to reward hard work or an excuse not to pay a proper wage.
Clearly they would have to be in addition to the basic grade and care would have to be taken not to reduce quality?

Just a quick few question - with the bajr payscales do you mean that the company has to already be paying its staff at the different levels the recomended bajr minimum in order to advertise, or does it mean that only the jobs advertised have to meet the minmum?
Our company has not yet uped the wages for april and we've wondered how it affects those of us already employed as we have realised that we're paid well under the recomended amounts for our employment level

Closing date: 21 Apr 2006
Newton Rebels
?38k p.a. pro rata 3 month project
We are seeking a suitably qualified, resourceful and imaginative researcher for a 3 month study to explore historical sources and to identify potential ways that the anniversary might be marked.
Supervision will be provided by Professor Steve Hindle of Warwick University who will be a member of the steering group.
Key tasks will include the preparation of a report, and contact with community groups, schools and young people to start planning activities to celebrate the quatercentenary of the uprising.
This post is available immediately in order to ensure that a report will be produced by September.
Newton Rebels is a community based history association dedicated to commemorating the 400th anniversary of the 1607 Newton Rebellion, when 40-50 peasants were massacred in a tiny village in Northamptonshire by landowners in the culmination of the Midlands Revolt. There is currently no record of the event or memorial to those killed.
