Applying for grants

Not sure where on the forum to put this and apologies if I have posted this and there is indeed an obvious list available!

I'm trying to find sources of funding that a community archaeology group or local history society could apply to as part of a project? I'm assisting with putting together a bid for some English Heritage money but it wouldn't cover 100% of the project so I'm trying to identify additional sources of money.

The project will involve surveying unregistered parks and gardens and non-listed historic buildings. We're thinking of approaching the National Garden Society for example, as well as parish/town councils.

Anyone got any other ideas? All assistance gratefully received and am happy to provide additional information if required.

Heritage Lottery Fund.

Also worth checking the local archaeological society. They can often be quite healthy in terms of finance. Not always willing to spend though.

there is an annual publication of grant giving trusts, funding limits ands particular targeted funding project types.

i have forgottent the name of this but you can generally find an out of date copy in educational libraries, because to current ones are handed around and highly covetted, much like the grants themselves.
