Thanks to Noddy for highlighting this :
In accordance with IfA?s strategic plan, in 2010 members were consulted about the desirability of the Institute seeking a Royal Charter of Incorporation.
On that basis, at the 2011 AGM members passed a resolution mandating Council to submit an informal memorandum to the Privy Council Office (the first stage of the process). This has been done.
At the same AGM, members considered an outline proposal for a more efficient, more representative governance structure comprising a smaller Board of Directors with legal responsibility for the management of the Institute, and a larger Advisory Council to advise on policy, strategy and potentially contentious issues.
The Council of the Institute is now seeking members guidance regarding the draft Charter and by-laws.
