Unless you've got a chunk of commercial experience beforehand and are doing a degree as a break from digging then I hope the company would put you on a CIfA approved training scheme. and/or have a Skills Passport (http://www.archaeologyskills.co.uk )
Maybe a tad optimistic there on the last point on training schemes ... we're already supporting non-CIfA graduates to AQP cards through the Manager & Professional H&S Test. A non-graduate non-CIfA corporate member would be deployed to non-cscs carded sites (few and far between).
